War in Juarez

This past weekend I learned of a massacre that happened in our sister city. There was a birthday party going on for a fourteen year old when unknown gun men burst in shooting. They left a number of people dead and others wounded. I think the drug violence between the cartels are still the number one source of killings in Juarez but the second highest are these individual incidences. They are separate attacks that every one assumes are cartel killings but most likely are not. If ever were a time to kill in Juarez it would be now. This is probably the mind set of people that want to settle old scores. The law enforcement is at there weakest right now due to all this violence so all these gang members and criminals are taking advantage of this.

Enemy

"An Enemy Is One Whose Story We Have Not Heard by"( Gene Knudsen Hoffman) This qoute is a very broad one that can mean many things. My opinion is that you have to ne open minded and listen before acting. In order for some one to be considerd an enemy you need to first understand were there coming from and there point of view. A greater understanding of a person allows you to see the human side in them and possibaly permiss them as a enemy. This qoute of course can only work in certain sitouations because it all depends on the person its applying to.

Building peace

I saw a video right now called building peace. It was about a man named Greg Mortenson. He tried to climb K2 but failed got sick and was nursed back to health in a small village were he vowed to return and help the people by making a school for girls. My personal opinion about this is mixed we are talking about changing a culture that has lasted though many ocupations from the most technologicaly advanced civiliztions in the world and faild. It is an enormous task of epic preporsions to try to change something of this magnitude. Sending troops to the middle east i think will just be a temperary soulution for a long term problem. in order to understand what the problem is you have to think like someone in the middle east. They are people who live and die by there religion and how do you get someone to change there beilf in there faith. It takes a greater understanding of there faith wich interms falls back on education.
